“Faith opened Noah’s heart to receive revelation and warnings from God about what was coming, even things that had never been seen. But he stepped out in reverent obedience to God and built an ark that would save him and his family. By his faith the world was condemned, but Noah received God’s gift of righteousness that comes by believing.”
Hebrews 11:7, TPT
Most believers know the biblical story of Noah and the Ark (Genesis 6:5- Genesis 9). Noah was a righteous man who walked with God. During that time, God was grieved by humankind’s wickedness. So much so, He was determined to destroy the Earth with a flood. However, God favored Noah. He instructed Noah to build an ark that would save his life and his family’s lives. Noah was obedient. He carefully followed God’s instructions, making the ark using the materials and specifications He provided. He even put everything in it that God told him to put in. As a result of Noah’s obedience, he and his family survived the flood.
In reflecting on Noah and the Ark, we should ask ourselves: What has God told me to build to safeguard my family’s future?
God has given each of us instructions. Whether He spoke to you years ago or today, you have an obligation as His child to be obedient. You cannot allow fear, ignorance, pride, or hardship, including spiritual warfare, to prevent you from doing what God told you to do. We should love God enough to obey Him faithfully. In John 14:15, Jesus says, “If you love me, keep my commands.”
Here are some examples of what God may be telling you to build:
- Take your business idea off the vision board and put the business plan into action. Make your business official – set it up and be prepared to receive customers. Seek God for a marketing strategy and implement it.
- Your current job is not the best you can do. Refresh your resume and apply for jobs outside your comfort zone.
- Forgive those who hurt you. Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV) – “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
- End the relationship that is no longer fruitful or has never been fruitful. It may be a romantic relationship, friendship, or business partnership.
- Now is the time to cultivate your relationship with Christ, family and friends, and your community.
- It is time to pack up and move to another state. You’ve been trying to make it work in Houston, TX. But if God told you to move to Alvaton, Kentucky – move! Go where He tells you to go, and you will succeed.
- Be a better steward of your finances. Make sure you are giving the tithe and an offering.
- Declutter and deep clean your home. Make room in your guest bedroom.
- Replace some of the items on your plate (to-do list) with rest.
- Adjust your sleep schedule. Go to bed at a decent time!
- Go to the doctor’s appointment that you have been putting off for months.
God has empowered us to obey Him. He is the source of the resource. We are fully capable of completing the task God has given us because He supplies all of our needs – whether we need provision, courage, wisdom, or determination (Philippians 4:13, 19).
Please note: Do not make a long to-do list of the things you would like to accomplish, as “few things are needed—or indeed only one” (Luke 10:41-42). Seek God through prayer for His instructions. Ask Him to help you remember the tasks He gave you—many deal with adjusting the posture of your heart towards God, yourself, or other people.
Prophetic Warning
The Lord has given us a grace period to be obedient. Likening it to a doctor’s office. If you are running late to an appointment, most offices give you 15 minutes to arrive and still be seen by the doctor. If you arrive after that time has expired, you will have to reschedule. Depending on how in demand that doctor is, you may be waiting months before you can see them. This is how it will be in the spiritual realm concerning our obedience.
We must follow God’s instructions before May of 2026. After that, what we once had the grace to do will now require the mercy of God. A major shift is taking place on Earth, and when it is complete, it will be unlike anything most people have ever experienced. Where we are found in May of 2026 will be where we remain for the next 5 years. Meaning, we will reap the fruit of our obedience or disobedience for the next 5 years.
In Exodus 12, the Lord gave Moses and Aaron instructions for the Passover. He was ready to release the tenth and final plague against the Egyptians, which was the death of the firstborn male. Up until that moment, God had shielded the Israelites from the plagues without them having to take any action. But this time, God instructed them to put the blood of a lamb on the doorpost of their home. The blood distinguished them as God’s children, which prevented the death angel from entering their homes. Can you imagine what would have happened if an Israelite family had neglected to follow God’s instructions? They would have suffered the same fate as the Egyptians. Our obedience distinguishes us as God’s children.
Prophetic warnings should not make us fearful of the future. God is being gracious and favorable in showing us how to prepare. Heeding His instructions prevents us from living in fear. Our obedience in this grace period will secure our prosperity and protection for the next season. Let’s be strong and courageous, and get to work!
